Introduction

This unit aims to provide students with an understanding of the role of clinical leadership and management specific to the challenges faced by nurse managers in a Nursing and Specialisation environment. It will provide students with an overview of the Australian Health Care System (AHCS) and the impact of social, political and economic processes on the AHCS. Students will be given the opportunity to explore and evaluate the full potential of the role of a clinical leader in specialist clinical organisations, including promoting and maintaining excellence in specialised care. It also aims to enable the student to critically examine the components of clinical leadership and management that can be applicable in Nursing and Specialisation practice.
