Dr Kogi Naidoo (Associate Professor)

Director – Quality Assurance

Dr Kogi Naidoo, FHERDSA and PFHEA, is Associate Professor and Director, Quality Assurance of the Institute of Health & Management (IHM). She is Associate Professor (Adjunct) at Charles Sturt University, and former Director, Learning Academy (DLT) playing a strategic role contributing to and enhancing teaching, the curriculum and assessment practice, meeting both staff and student needs.

Kogi has over three decades higher education teaching experience leading in the areas of academic development, research and quality assurance in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia (Adelaide and Charles Sturt). Her focus on the scholarship of teaching includes winning a national grant and as principal investigator lead a national team of all New Zealand universities investigating the impact of academic development on first-year student learning. Kogi’s postgraduate research includes a focus on self-evaluation programs for staff development and designing systemic academic course quality assurance mechanisms.

Kogi is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK (2016). She has numerous prestigious academic awards and fellowships, including the South African Junior Technikon Fellowship Award, the Ernest Oppenheimer Gold Medal and the South African Association for Research and Development in Higher Education (SAARDHE) Young Achiever Award. She was also awarded the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA) Fellowship in 2003. Kogi is HERDSA President Elect (2020) and will serve as HERDSA President (2021-2022)

Kogi has presented and published her research internationally. Kogi is a published author of two books, Working Women: Stories of Struggle, Strife and Survival, 2010, Sage, India and Live, Learn, Love: The Path to Your Prowess! (2012), Balboa Press, A Division of HayHouse.
