Academic Staff

As the Director of Research and Innovation at the Institute of Health & Management, Dr Jennieffer Barr comes with almost three decades of experience in the higher education sector and four decades of experiences in health industry in Australia. She is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Charles Darwin University, and before that held the position of Deputy Dean of Research at the CQ University, Australia.

Supervision Projects

Successfully completed nearly 35 research higher degree students. PhD completions of over 30 achieving no or only minor amendments.

  • Supervised as Primary and Secondary multiple disciplined students (nursing, midwifery, engineering, psychology, osteopathy, public health, education, information technology and occupational therapy).
  • Cross-cultural supervision with students from diverse backgrounds like Taiwanese, Indonesia, Zimbabwean, Indigenous Australian, Indigenous Maori, Chinese, Japanese, and Indian.
  • Mentor supervisor of new and poor performing supervisors (Official Mentor Supervisor, CQ University Australia. Currently appointed for disciplines of Nursing and Business and Law but have also aided Education, Occupational Therapy, and Medicine).
  • Successful remedial work – assisted two students in five years who were “out of time”, transferred universities to be supervised by herself and pay full fees in order to complete. Both have completed.
  • Provide training on supervision both faculty and university wide.
  • Have written policies on HDR supervision.

  • Griffith University, Research Higher Degree Supervision Excellence Award, 2009 (commended).
  • Finalist Award – Faculty recognition award, and nominated and was to represent QUT for Citation, Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) in 2008 (had to withdraw as moving to Griffith University).
  • Nominated for the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) in 2001 Student Guild Best Lecturer Award for Kelvin Grove Campus, QUT in 1999 Student Guild Best Lecturer Award for all three campuses at QUT in 1999.
